Ick Check ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our mobile application.

Information We Collect

Information You Provide

• Account Information: Email address and password when you create an account
• Screenshots: Images you upload for analysis (processed and deleted after analysis)
• Chat Messages: Conversations with our AI dating coach

Automatically Collected Information

• Device Information: Device type, operating system, unique device identifiers
• Usage Data: Features used, time spent in app, crash reports
• Analytics: Anonymous usage patterns to improve our service

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide and improve our services
• Analyze screenshots for dating red flags
• Power AI coaching conversations
• Send important updates about your account
• Prevent fraud and abuse

Data Storage and Security

• All data is encrypted in transit
• Screenshots are processed and immediately deleted
• We use industry-standard security measures
• Conversations and chat history are stored locally on your device using on-device storage (SQLite), not on our servers
• Minimal account data (user ID, subscription status, daily usage counts) is stored on secure servers (Supabase) to manage your account

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services:

• Supabase: Database and authentication
• Google Gemini: AI analysis and coaching (data processed per Google's privacy policy)
• PostHog: Anonymous analytics
• Sentry: Crash reporting
• RevenueCat: Subscription management
• Cartesia AI: Text-to-speech voice generation (text of AI responses only; no personal data shared)

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Delete your account and all associated data
• Opt out of analytics tracking
• Revoke AI consent at any time in the app's Settings

AI Data Processing (Google Gemini)

When you use Ick Check, your screenshots and messages are sent to Google Gemini for analysis. Google processes this data to generate responses and does not use your data to train its AI models. We do not sell, share, or use your content for any purpose other than providing the Ick Check service.

Screenshots are processed in real time and are not stored by Google after analysis is complete. Google may retain input data for up to 3 months for abuse monitoring purposes, after which it is deleted.

Chat messages and conversation history are stored locally on your device only. Messages are sent to Google Gemini when you interact with the AI coach, but are not permanently stored on our servers or by Google beyond the retention period noted above. You can revoke AI consent at any time in the app's Settings.

Voice Features

Ick Check offers optional voice features that require device permissions:

Voice Input (Speech-to-Text)

• When you tap the microphone button, your device's built-in speech recognition converts your voice to text
• Audio is processed entirely on your device using Apple's Speech Recognition framework — no voice recordings are sent to our servers or any third party
• You must grant Microphone and Speech Recognition permissions to use this feature; you can revoke these at any time in your device Settings
• We do not record, store, or retain any audio from voice input

Voice Responses (Text-to-Speech)

• When enabled, AI coach responses are converted to spoken audio using Cartesia AI, a third-party text-to-speech service
• Only the text of the AI response is sent to Cartesia — no personal data, screenshots, or conversation history
• Audio files are cached temporarily on your device for playback and deleted immediately after
• Cartesia processes data per their privacy policy; we do not share your identity or account information with Cartesia
• You can disable voice responses at any time in Settings → AI Features

Voice Preferences

• Your voice toggle (on/off) and voice gender preference are stored locally on your device via AsyncStorage
• These preferences are not sent to our servers

Data Retention

• Account data: Retained on our servers until you delete your account
• Screenshots: Deleted immediately after analysis; Google may retain for up to 3 months for abuse monitoring
• Chat history: Stored locally on your device; retained until you delete conversations or your account

Children's Privacy

Ick Check is not intended for users under 13 years of age. Users between 13 and 17 must have parental or guardian consent. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification.
